“Speak My Peace, Keep My Piece 1997”

“Speak My Peace, Keep My Piece” are lyrics from the hit Biggie Song Hypnotize released in 1997. I know the true textbook saying is “Speak My Piece” but as a kid I assumed Biggie meant “Speak My Peace” . 

I have googled this one and seen arguments for both sides.

Say your piece would imply that you've had the opportunity to make your part of the statement on the subject.

Say your peace would imply that you've had the opportunity to speak and set your mind at ease.

Clearly, they both make perfect sense in those contexts.

So you be the judge, but my assumption would be that Biggie “Spoke His Peace” but still kept “His Piece” . You decide. #LegendsNeverDie
